GILLE's estate

This 9 hectares estate has been handed down from father to son for more than 7 generations. The wine production is a family business. Some pieces of earth were the property of Henry Gille born in 1756.
The house was converted by Vivant Gille (1877-1938) who established the present organisation of the estate. The cultivation of the vineyard and the wine-making follow the burgundy tradition.
The harvest is gathered by hand and the wine-making of the prestigious vineyards is made in renovated old wood vats.

The productivity

This estate is characterized by very old vineyards. Some of them are more than 100 years old.
The productivity is low, less than 40 hl per hectare which allows a constant quality to be maintained.
The soil is composed of clay and lime-stone from a jurassic group.

The aging of the wine lasts from 18 to 24 months in oak barrels. The benefits of modern techniques only reinforce the efficiency of ancestral methodes.
Henri GILLE has left to his heirs a cellar well-furnished with old vintages which please the regular customers.
